Linthwaite House occupies a majestic site, nestled on a gentle rise with exceptional views of Windermere, and set in hilltop gardens and woodland grounds. The idyllic private tarn (small lake) lies in a fold of the higher ground to one side of the hotel, where there are original old stone walls and a patch of mixed woodland.
There is plenty for guests to do around Linthwaite’s beautiful grounds. Take a stroll along the walking trails while admiring the local fauna, flora and sculptures, or go for a cycle and explore the ‘chocolate-box’ village of Bowness-on-Windermere. There are two row boats available on the tarn and, if you’re a keen angler, there is also fly fishing available. Alternatively, after a day of exploring The Lakes, why not book an in-room massage to relax those tired muscles.
Linthwaite House offers luxurious accommodation, with stylish, individually designed bedrooms and bathrooms, many overlooking the lake and manicured gardens as well as the surrounding hills and mountains.
At Stella, visitors can sample some of the finest cuisine in the Lake District, based on locally sourced and organic produce. Menus highlight the best of the Cumbrian region and the season, influenced by international celebrity chef Ritu Dalmia and her passion for Italian cooking.
Linthwaite House’s perennially popular light-filled Bar & Conservatory, with outstanding views of Windermere, will be serving handcrafted cocktails, an all-day dining menu (including pizzas to rival those of Florence) and a selection of afternoon teas.
