Beside Edinburgh Castle at the summit of the historic Royal Mile, the award-winning 5-star Scotch Whisky Experience is one of Scotland’s most prestigious visitor attractions, and part of Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Centre is built around the Whisky Tour; devoted to telling the story of Scotland’s most famous product: Scotch Whisky. Our contemporary experience feature a state-of-the-art barrel car ride taking visitors through the whisky production process. One of our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides will then lead visitors through an interactive sensory experience, unlocking the secrets of Scotland’s regions and their influence on the whisky produced.
A highlight of the tour is the Diageo Claive Vidiz Scotch Whisky Collection, which is the world’s largest collection of Scotch whisky, encompassing almost 3,500 individual bottles. Here, the guide tutors through the five stages of appreciating whisky: colour, body, nose, palate, and finish; with each participant choosing their own Scotch whiskyby region. Our guide will then talk about some of the oldest and most unique bottles in the collection, before allowing guests access to our exclusive McIntyre Gallery, which features a bar containing over 300 Scotch whiskies and stunning views across Edinburgh.
