Set within its own private estate on the dramatically-beautiful Dartmoor National Park, Bovey Castle is an unrivalled destination for a luxurious rural retreat. Built at the turn of the century, Bovey Castle has remained loyal to the subtle vision of grandeur upon which it was founded, and the understated-elegance of this bygone era continues to echo throughout the hotel.
Within the 275-acre estate, Bovey Castle features 63 individually-designed bedrooms by Annabel Elliot and 14 granite lodges, located in the original manor house and private mews. Each bedroom reflects the luxurious hospitality that Bovey Castle is renowned for, with every finishing touch selected to complement the warmth and elegance of our guest rooms.
Dining is an integral part of the Bovey Castle experience. A light lunch on a sunny terrace, a snack after a round of golf, afternoon tea in front of a roaring log fire on a cold November day and, best of all, a superb dinner to end the day accompanied by a fine bottle of red. There are two restaurant choices for dining. The Great Western Restaurant offers game shot on the moors, lamb and aged Exmoor beef and seafood sourced from Devon and Cornwall. Smith’s Brasserie is a gastro pub serving classic British courses, with spectacular countryside views and a roaring fire pit.
The golf course at Bovey Castle is a challenging and beautiful 18-hole championship course, designed in 1926 by J F Abercromby, one of the finest British golf course designers of the last century. When the course opened in 1930, it quickly gained national acclaim for its reputation as one of the most enjoyable places to play golf.
The Spa at Bovey Castle is a sanctuary tucked away from the bustle of modern life. The large indoor swimming pool in the orangery opens onto a stunning sun terrace. It’s up to you whether you wish to laze in the pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms, a workout in the gym or indulge yourself in escapist treatments.
