ASA are delighted to announce that we now offer 3 new and exclusive “behind the scenes” tours of the Imperial War Museum locations in and near London: HMS Belfast, Churchill War Rooms & IWM Duxford. We have also put together a very special  “D-Day 75th Anniversary Tour”  offering a truly unique opportunity to explore iconic British sites that featured heavily in this chapter of history.

1) HMS Belfast

Take a private tour with one of the ship’s crew, and learn about HMS Belfast’s D-Day journey from Scapa Flow to the beaches of NormandyThis historic warship served in the freezing waters of the Arctic Convoys, was one of the first ships to fire her guns on D-Day and had an important role as part of the United Nations forces in Korea in the early 1950s. On this tour, you will hear of the key role HMS Belfast played on D-Day, see the sick bay where evacuated wounded soldiers were brought on board, and see the guns that pounded the Normandy beaches.

2) Churchill War Rooms

You will be given exclusive access behind-the-glass of some of the most important rooms used by Churchill and his Cabinet during the Second World War, many of which have been left just as they were in May 1945. Your museum expert will also take you to the award-winning Churchill Museum, where you will see objects and displays that map the course of Winston Churchill’s life.

3) IWM Duxford

Here, we can offer you a two part visit to really make the most of your experience at IWM Duxford:

Part 1: Visit the historic site
A walking tour around the historic centre of IWM Duxford, a former RAF airbase and the American Air Museum taking in the control tower, Theatre hangar, the Nissen hut and ending at the memorial to the American Air Force aircraft and crews lost in operations from Britain during the Second World War.

Part 2: Tour of the American Air Museum 
See an unrivalled collection of American aircraft including icons of aviation such as the P51 Mustang, the B17 Flying Fortress, the B52 Stratofortress and the SR71 Blackbird.

These tours are all hosted by on-site experts making it a uniquely exclusive experience for your clients.
